Hiawatha Care Center is a 95-bed skilled nursing facility that provides 24-hour professional nursing care by qualified nurses and certified nursing assistants. At Hiawatha Care Center, we not only emphasize our quality of care, but also our quality of caring.

Hiawatha Care Center promotes health, growth, and rehabilitation of our residents to reflect their highest functional levels. Nursing:
Hiawatha Care Center provides 24-hour professional nursing care. The care provided is given by qualified, experienced nurses and nursing assistants as well as the social worker, dietician, activity director, consulting pharmacist, and consulting physical, occupational, and speech therapists. We have an outstanding medical director. Each resident's care is individualized and planned to help the resident achieve his/her maximum potential in a supportive, caring environment.

Activities:
Our activity program is designed to encourage maximum participation for all residents. All residents are encouraged to attend the activities of their choice. For those residents who choose not to attend, we provide individualized activities suited to their needs and interests. Ideas are welcome as we strive to make the activities interesting, challenging, peaceful, and current. Activities outside of the care center are also provided. A monthly newsletter along with calendar of events is given to each resident and mailed to family members.

Social Services:
Any person placed in a nursing home will go through a period of adjustment. Here at the Hiawatha Care Center, we strive to assist the resident, family, and friends with the adjustment process. Our social services personnel can also assist with other areas of a resident’s life.

Dietary:
A well-balanced meal is one of the key areas to good health. Hiawatha Care Center prepares a variety of nutritious meals that meet any special dietary needs residents may have. Our appetizing meals are attractively served in a cheerful and spacious dining room. We utilize an open-dining system to offer our residents more choices. We also offer a beautiful family dining room for those special occasions.

Therapy:
All departments at Hiawatha Care Center are concerned with seeing residents restored to their greatest potential. Resident participation and motivation in this process is crucial. Restorative aides, under the direction of a consultant physical therapist and director of nursing, are available to help residents with ambulation, transfer techniques, and mobility. Additional speech, physical, and occupational therapies with licensed therapists are available when ordered by a physician.

Environmental:
Our Environmental Services Department provides our residents with a clean living environment, just like they would find at home. Rooms are cleaned daily and stocked with supplies. Linens and towels are provided for each resident. Laundry services are available for all washable items including residents' personal laundry. Our Environmental Services Department can also assist with any needed repairs.

Personal Care Services:
A barber/beautician is available at Hiawatha Care Center twice a week for hair cuts, hair sets, and perms. We also have a licensed massage therapist that comes once a month.
